When the Oz Lotto was launched in 1994, its original format was similar to the Australian Saturday Lotto. It required players to choose six (6) numbers from a pool of 45 possible numbers.
In October 2005, the game matrix was amended and saw the Oz Lotto adopt a 7/45 game format, considerably lengthening the chances of winning the jackpot. This change also resulted in changes in the branding of the Australian lottery in many states.
The brand changes were to emphasise the addition of the seventh ball, with names such as Super 7’s Oz Lotto in Tatts regions and Oz 7 Lotto in Queensland.
However, in 2012 the game reverted back to the original ‘Oz Lotto’ branding in the Tatts regions and Queensland.
