Some lottery winners choose to keep working after they become millionaires, while some choose to retire and spend the rest of their time pursuing their hobbies… Dean Weymes, a 25 year old lottery winner chose the latter!

Dean Weymes was a normal 25 year old living in the UK, working shifts and weekends for the Amazon transport team, until his life changed dramatically. He won the UK National Lottery draw jackpot and decided to quit his day job. He chose the monthly pay out of his jackpot and will receive £10,000 or £12,000, every month for the next 30 years. That’s just under £4.4 million!

Dean Weymes said he checked his UK lottery winning numbers after arriving at work at 7 a.m. on July 30, only to discover that he was a winner. When he realised that he had won, he thought, “I don’t need to be at work if I don’t want to be”, so, Dean said he was sick and went home.

“The following day I went in to quit, I went to HR and said I have to leave, they said to fill out the form, which said ‘why are you leaving?'” he said in quotes reported by the Mail. “I wrote ‘won Lottery/retirement?’ and they were like ‘you can’t put this down!’ The Amazon’s HR team thought I was joking when I said was quitting because I had won the lottery.”

Dean ipted for the monthly payout and will be given between £10,000 and $12,000, every month for the next 30 years. This works out to $4.4 million in total. “I am now literally set for life,” he told reporters.

He plans to use the money to help his family support his severely autistic brother and to pursue his hobby of writing by starting a career as a screenwriter.

“I studied screenwriting at university as this has always been a passion of mine but I have never been able to do anything with this,” he said. “I can turn my passion into a job – something I never thought I could do.”

The management team at Amazon told reporters that they are “absolutely delighted” for Dean and wish him all the success in becoming a screenwriter. “Perhaps one day he’ll be creating blockbusters for Amazon Studios!” their management team said.

Now an ‘anything but normal’ 25 year old, Dean Weymes said that he hopes he will be able to stay grounded after becoming a millionaire and that he wants to make smart decisions with his money so that it will continue to grow. He will use his monthly payments to support himself and his family while also investing and saving. He said that he doesn’t see himself making any luxurious purchases…yet!
